Like vegetables, you have to keep fruits in cool and dry place to minimize spoilage. Do not store fruits in your refrigerator for more than a week. Fruits stored for longer period have already lost their vitamin content.
When handling fruits and vegetables, you have to avoid soaking them in water. You can lose a lot of vitamins if you soak them for more than 15 minutes. You should also avoid boiling fruits and vegetables to avoid vitamin loss. You should eat them raw or stir fry vegetables using very small amount of olive oil to keep their multivitamin content.

Why do I feel tired when I take a multivitamin?
I started taking a multivitamin and now I feel very tired. I went off it for a few days and found I had lots of energy, went back on it and was tired again. I don't really understand why this happens. I run 2 or 3 times a week but I have been feeling to tired to do so since I have taken multivitamins. Any reason why this could happen?
Answer:
I'm not sure of a definite answer but I can think of a few possible reasons this could be happening.
1) Maybe you're taking the vitamins on an empty stomach? This can often lead to side effects like fatigue, sleepiness, etc ... So make sure you eat a good meal before hand.
2) You might be "overdosing" on a certain mineral/vitamin. Vitamin A has been known to have side effects when taken in high quantities. Some of these include head-aches, join-pain, fatigue, etc... Also you need to remember that you might be getting Vitamin A from other food sources which might add to a possible OD. Vitamin A is found in things like liver and fortified milk.
3) Allergic reaction to Vitamin/Mineral could possibly making your body react in a way that makes you feel sleepy,fatigued.
I would stop taking the vitamins for a short period of time (1-2 weeks) to see if the sleepiness goes away. A lot of times other stuff going on in your life can contribute to sleepiness, like added stress, poor diet, exercise.
